Mr. Riyaz Rasheed first joined as an operation manager at a private fuel delivering company in 1984. Aftrer nine years of experience in that field, he registere his own company on 26th December 1996. Mr.Riyaz Rasheed is a FIFA (Football international Federation Association) referee.

The beginning of Meriedam Services Private Limited was very humble and the initial investment was very small. Now with more than 23 years of experience in the fuel business, Meriedam Services is one of the largest private fuel delivering company in the Maldives.

In 2003, Mr. Riyaz Rasheed was awarded best public services incentive award (National award for best Performing youth in the local business development in the Maldives). The effort of dedicated staff and Mr. Riyaz brought tremendous development to the company. As a result, now Meriedam Services is not only involved in fuel business. The company has diversified its business to sports attire, petroleum and other oil related products, such as sea transport business, cargo handling, logistic management services, and real estate services etc.

Mr. Riyaz is engaged in conducting various sports and youth related activities in some islands. In this regard, to assist the youth of Madifushi island of Thaa atoll, Mr Riyaz has set up a community association in island of Madifushi. In the political field of Maldives, Mr. Riyaz is also an outspoken member of the New Constitutional Assembly. Mr. Riyaz has been selected as Haveeru ( the leading daily in the Maldives) best referee in 2006. The same year he was declared the FAM ( Football association of Maldives) best referee.
